How trampolining gave a young girl with Down’s Syndrome and autism her independence – Gazette Live

A trampoline teacher has been credited with giving a young girl with disabilities her independence.

Rebecca Cleasby, from Yarm, says her daughter Ellie is now a confident, independent teenager since joining the trampoline club run by Jan Leonard, from Thornaby.

The club has made Ellie, who has Down’s Syndrome and autism, feel at home from the very first day.

Rebecca said: “My daughter has complex needs and learning disabilities.

“I was looking for something for my daughter to take part in because we wanted a mainstream activity.

“We tried lots of different things and they didn’t work.

“But straight away, as soon as I met Jan, I knew she was going to be the right person.
